PERSONALITY:
William is a loud, boisterous man whose massive voice and biceps are only outsized by his huge heart. Said heart is one he wears on his sleeve. He’s not good at keeping secrets or hiding his feelings, though he’s the type to always want to give people the benefit of the doubt. “Everyone deserves a second chance”, is something he truly believes in.
He’s self-confident and proud of both his abilities and achievements, but he’s the kind of person who doesn’t like being at rest. He strives to constantly be moving forward and improving himself. Though his muscles and attitude are the first things people notice about him, William is actually quite clever. His mind lends itself to analysis, even though he doesn’t always immediately fully understand the whole scope of the matter. He’s an act first, think later type, but he does think later (most of the time, at least).
In the Identity V universe, he’s credited with the creation and foundation of Rugby football; this means that he would have had to figure out things like rules, game flow, and tactics. Several sources, such as the letter sent to him on his birthday, call attention to the fact that while he has a reputation as a musclebound brute, he is quite intelligent. His diary movies, too, show him working out a mystery. While sometimes his impulsive mind and quick instincts can hamper him from stepping back and seeing the picture, he knows well enough when he needs to sit down and think.
William tends to try to trust people and give them the benefit of the doubt; he’s a believer in “Innocent until proven guilty,” which can cause big problems when he chooses to ignore a suspicion against someone. Despite all the difficult, monstrous things he’s seen in the Manor and questionable characters he’s met, he still wants to believe that people tend toward goodness.
He can be fiercely protective of others, rushing into danger in order to save the life of his teammates or anyone he sees in trouble. Often times, he will force himself into action so that he doesn’t have to stop and think about fear. He will give his life for someone, and never expects the opposite, but it doesn’t mean that he was immune to the terror he faced in the Manor. He’s still deeply affected by the memories, and sometimes they will come back unbidden.
Despite the fact he’s seen many things that would make him cynical, and despite the fact that he’s seen—and has been victim of the worst of human nature—William is still an optimist. Still, he holds bitterness when someone sets out to actively wrong him; it takes a lot for William to become angry or distrustful, but once he does, he remembers it.
Though William is emotional, he can’t always easily parse the emotions of people who are extremely different from him; he tends to sometimes cross the boundaries of shy or introverted people without meaning to, just because he’s so excited and wanting to help, in the only way he can. However, he means well. Even if William doesn’t understand everything, he will try his best to do right by the people he cares about.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
William doesn’t have any special abilities out of the norm, but he does boast some impressive physical power. He's both strong and sturdy, the type to be able to run into a brick wall and come away with a mild headache. He can also run extremely fast; he's essentially the perfect athlete.
